My Current Skincare Routine- March 2014

For my birthday, I asked my mom if she could take me to Kiehl's because the skincare routine I was following then had completely stopped working for me. Some products were still working great, but the others had just turned kinda bleh. My birthday was a few weeks ago, and I have already completely fallen in love with some of these products.

Cleanser

I use Kiehl's Ultra Facial Oil Free Cleanser now. My previous face wash was really starting to dry out my skin, but this face wash does not over dry my skin at all, and at the same time makes my face feel really clean. AND its paraben free, silicone free, oil free and fragrance free. I use this both during the day time and the night time.

Toner

I don't really consider toner to be an absolutely necessary product for everyone's skincare routine, however I prefer using toner. This particular toner, called the Kiehl's Calendula Herbal Extract Toner which is Alcohol Free, is really working well for my skin. It removes any extra dirt, oil or makeup from my face. It also soothes my skin really well. Again, I use this product both day and night.

Moisturizer

I absolutely LOVE this stuff. I prefer water based creams, and this one was brilliant. It doesn't make my skin look greasy in any way, and neither does it feel greasy. The hydration lasts for the entire day, and I don't feel the need to apply it more than once in a day. However I do use this as a night cream as well. I highly recommend this for oilier skin types. (BTW, my mom is absolutely loving the regular Ultra Facial Cream, so I would recommend that for drier skin types)

Pudding for Purple Lipshtick: Chocolate Chip Cookies!

YAY! CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES! I've never made my own chocolate chip cookies at home before, but I surely will make a LOT more of these in the future. They taste gorgeous and buttery and the chocolate is all lovely and melted and gooey on the inside. If you cook it perfectly, they're crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, just how I like them.

I love using a mixture of 50% dark chocolate and milk chocolate chunks (you should try putting chunks of chocolate instead of chocolate chips. Chunks = more ooey gooey chocolate in your cookies and it gives the cookies an awesome, rustic look).

The recipe only requires 5 ingredients (butter, brown sugar, flour, eggs and chocolate, duh), but I decided to throw in some baking soda and baking powder (I was planning to add a few drops of vanilla essence, but I kinda forgot :P).

That is all for this time's Pudding for Purple Lipshtick, CANNOT wait for the next one!

Pudding for PurpleLipshtick: Cookies and Cream Cupcakes with Oreo Frosting!

I wanted to start a new series of blogposts that was only related to cooking (mostly desserts, hence the word "Pudding" in the title), because apart from makeup-ing, I also love to cook, mostly bake. Its REALLY fun. So I took a few pictures while preparing the cupcakes. (By the way, they turned out great)

I do have to mention that they may not look super pretty. but they taste sooo good.

Now both of those links do have recipes for the cupcakes as well as the frosting, but I preferred the cupcake recipe of the first link and the frosting recipe of the second link.

5 Favourites: January 2014

I wanted to start a new series of blogposts where I would talk about my top 5 beauty favourites of the month. I do have a lot more favourites than 5, however, by only listing 5 of my favourites, the blogposts become shorter and easier to read through. So yay. Lets start!

  • Vaseline Total Moisture Aloe Fresh Body Moisturiser: Last year, I bought all three of Vaseline's Total Moisture Lotions (Aloe Fresh, Cocoa Radiant and the Regular Total Moisture) in a mini size, so I could try all three of them. I ended up finishing up the Aloe Fresh one the fastest, and I ended up loving it the most, which is why I got the full size. The formula of this Body moisturiser is truly amazing, because its not one of those moisturisers that you can only use in the winter, or only during the summer, but you can use it all year round. Its moisturising enough to use during the winter season, and light enough (and not sticky at all) to use during the summer months. It feels very soothing while put it on and it blends wonderfully. Love this stuff.

  • Essie Mirror Metallics Nailpolish in Good As Gold: In 2011, I grew an obsession with gold nail polish. It really looks amazing on my skin tone, and I think it would look great across all skin tones. This particular gold nail polish isn't too yellow or anything, its the perfect gold. And what I also love about metallic nail polishes in general is that they always dry faster than cream nail polishes. With two coats of this nail polish, there is only a little bit of streaking (which is generally the case with all metallic nail polishes), however, a top coat should take care of that instantly with only one coat.

Beauty Wishlist- January 2014

I've been to Sephora a few times before, and it really is a makeup wonderland of fun and fantasies and life. Its like Disney World for a makeup addict. And because its so overwhelming once you go in, you kinda get confused as to what to actually buy. Therefore, I am making this list, so the next time I walk into a Sephora (which won't be any time soon, but still), I'll know exactly what to get. Plus, I love talking about makeup I really want, so.. yah. Let's get on with.
  • Urban Decay NAKED3 Palette: Stupid Urban Decay and their stupid Naked Palettes. UGH. Plus, this one is all rose gold. I AM OBSESSED WITH ROSE GOLD. I already have the first and second Naked Palettes, as well as the Naked Basics Palette, but I still find it necessary to have this in my collection. Thanks a lot, UD.

  • UD Double Ended Eyeshadow Pencils: I love the whole idea of these pencils. They have a different neutral shade on each side, and each pencil is supposed to correspond with each of the Naked Palettes. The ones below are called Naked 1, Naked 2 and Naked 3. As much as I liked the Naked Basics Palette, I didn't really like the Naked Basics eyeliner, so I left that out.

  • UD Naked Skin Ultra Definition Loose Finishing Powder: I recently saw this get an A+ AND a "Temptalia Recommends" on the Temptalia Beauty Blog recently, which is very, VERY rare. So obviously, this must be an absolutely phenomenal powder, and I really like setting powders, so of course I would love to try this.

2013 Favourites: Skincare, Nails, Haircare!

I have to be honest, I didn't really discover too many new products in 2013, so some obvious things that you'll notice: no new facial cleanser favourites, hair conditioner favourites, regular daily shampoo favourites, etc. 2013 just wasn't the year for new skincare or haircare. But I did love a few things, which I definitely did want to talk about here on my blog!

Skincare:

Makeup Remover:
Loreal Dermo-Expertise Gentle Lip and Eye Makeup Remover
Its cheaper than a lot of makeup removers, and it does the job amazingly without irritating my eyes, or the rest of my face. Really do like it and would definitely repurchase this.

Scrub/ Exfoliating:
St. Ives Fresh Skin Apricot Scrub
Best facial scrub of all time. It does have a more gritty texture, so it probably isn't great for people with more sensitive skin, however, this works wonders on my skin.

Moisturizer;
Aveeno Positively Radiant Night Cream
Even though this a night cream, I did use this during the day A LOT when I was in San Francisco. It will definitely help with your dry skin, and reduce any flakiness on the skin.

2013 Favourites: Makeup!

Its really, really weird to know that 2013 is already done, and we're already almost into the second month of 2014. In all honesty, I'm kinda still stuck on 2012. However there was bunch of makeup that I discovered and loved in 2013 (mainly because I went to San Francisco and New York City, and bought a whole lotta makeup while I was there), so here are my 2013 makeup favourites!

Face:

Setting Powder:
Revlon Nearly Naked Pressed Powder in Medium Deep
An absolutely wonderful basic setting powder. Its smooth, light, applies with a matte finish, but eventually turns into a wonderful semi-matte finish. It is definitely one of the best face makeup products I've tried.

Concealer:
Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighter Pen
This continues to be my favourite concealer for the under eye area. It brightens and makes you look super awake, even though you might've had 4 hours of sleep.
